Our Building

Our present Church building was erected in 1871 to meet the growing needs of the Methodist family, which had its roots in this town in 1776.  The building occupies a prominent place on Harbour Road, opposite the station, and stands as a centre of worship and witness to the love of Christ, used by a number of community groups. The worship area was partitioned in 1999 in order to create an attractive entrance foyer, and in 2002 a lift was installed to make the Church accessible to those who are disabled.

Our Mission Statement

In obedience to Christ’s command to ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself’ (Luke 10:27) we make it our aim for all our Church members to grow in love:

Towards God            -        Becoming more mature in our faith

Towards the world    -        Reaching out in mission and service

Towards others        -        Growing in fellowship and maturity
